Dr Taher Mahmud

Consultant Rheumatologist and Co-Founder

Dr Taher Mahmud is the Co-Founder and Director of London Osteoporosis Clinic 🩺. Dr Mahmud trained at King’s College Hospital, St Thomas’ Hospital, and Guy’s Hospital, and has extensive experience as an Honorary Consultant at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath and as Lead for Osteoporosis and Consultant Rheumatologist at Tunbridge Wells Hospital NHS Trust.
He is committed to improving patient outcomes and eradicating osteoporosis-related suffering through his interests in holistic osteoporosis treatments, bone health advocacy, and patient feedback. Dr Mahmud’s MD and MSc research focused on drug side effects and he leads LOC with compassion and innovation.

Mr Gary Rhodes

LOC Advisory Board Lead

Mr Gary Rhodes brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to health advocacy to his role as Advisory Board Lead at the London Osteoporosis Clinic. With more than a decade of experience in the health sector, his journey began with a personal mission to improve the well-being of his beloved grandmother.

Motivated by a profound desire to make a positive impact on his grandmother's life, Mr Rhodes embarked on a quest to explore innovative solutions for osteoporosis management. It was during this journey that he discovered the remarkable benefits of bioDensity.
We are honored to have Mr Rhodes as the Advisory Board Lead at our clinic, his personal commitment to health aligns with our mission to to be proactive about their health, especially bone health.

Dr Naeem Ahmed

Dr Naeem Ahmed

Consultant Radiologist

Dr. Ahmed is highly regarded clinician. He trained Guy's, King's, and St Thomas' Hospital; winning the St Thomas' Hospital Cup. His academic excellence led to specialized training in Radiology, followed by a subspecialty imaging Fellowship at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where he now serves as a consultant radiologist.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Ahmed is a dedicated leader in health initiatives. He is the founder of Selfless, a global health NGO, and a co-founder of the MedTech startup ImproveWell.

Prof Sir Graeme Catto

Emeritus Professor of Medicine and Co-Founder

Professor Sir Graeme Catto is the Co-Founder of London Osteoporosis Clinic and Emeritus Professor of Medicine at the Universities of London and Aberdeen. Sir Graeme was President and later Chair, of the General Medical Council until April 2009.

Professor Catto has been interested in bone health for many years. During that period of time understanding about bone health has transformed. Professor Catto advocates better care for osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases. He is Emeritus Professor of Medicine at the Universities of London and Aberdeen. Professor Catto is also Co-Founder of London Osteoporosis Clinic and President of the Global Osteoporosis Foundation.

Dr Dhiya Houssein

Consultant Rheumatologist

Dr Dhiya Houssien is a Consultant Rheumatologist and Laser Acupuncture Expert 🩺

Dr D Houssien has over two decades of experience in Saudi Arabia. He earned his medical degree from King Abdullaziz University and a Master of Medical Science in Rheumatology from Birmingham University, and completed his clinical research PhD in Rheumatology at King’s College Hospital.
Dr Houssien is now offering laser acupuncture services in Harley Street, where he has developed an innovative treatment for back, neck, shoulder, and knee pain.

Prof Karl Gaffney

Consultant Rheumatologist

Prof Karl Gaffney is Consultant Rheumatologist and Clinical Director for Rheumatology 🩺.

He also serves as Chair and Medical Advisor of the National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society, and President of The National Osteoporosis Society (Norwich & District Group).

He is honorary professor at Norwich Medical School University of East Anglia, Chief Medical Advisor and Trustee of the National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society.

Prof Gaffney’s clinical and research interests are focused on rheumatology and bone health, particularly in the areas of ankylosing spondylitis and osteoporosis.

Mr Carl Wilkinson

Strength and Conditioning Coach

Mr Carl Wilkinson is a fitness enthusiast who has turned his passion for exercise and keeping fit into a career.

He strongly believes that proper body movement is essential for optimal functioning during any exercise or activity, and that strengthening our muscles can help to strengthen our bones, which is crucial for healthy aging.

Mr. Wilkinson believes that staying fit and active is essential for maintaining good health and quality of life in the long term.

The London Osteoporosis Clinic is a group of highly skilled professionals specialising in diagnosing, treating, and managing osteoporosis and related musculoskeletal disorders.

The team comprises Consultant Osteoporosis Physicians, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Sports and Exercise Medicine Doctors, Nutritionists, Physiotherapists, and Strengthening Trainers.  They employ a multidisciplinary approach to provide early diagnosis and treatment options, both drug and non-drug, to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.  The central team continues to grow and evolve to offer the most comprehensive care and expertise to those dealing with osteoporosis and musculoskeletal disorders.
